June 6 - July 13Thomas Hoepker - Pictures from a Vanished Country: East Germany in the 1970'sInitially working as a staff photographer and correspondent for Stern, Thomas Hoepker was among the first with a special permit to travel freely between West and East Berlin, managing to portray everyday life in the "brother country" (East Germany) as realistically and impartially as possible. His images - at once revealing, depressing, and humorous - preserve the bygone look of the "first Socialist state on German soil."
